It is perfectly safe to do that-here is how Steam tells you to do it. ![]() To avoid certain avoidable problems, consider moving your Steam and Games to some other location outside of Programs (x86). The FNIS modpage specifically warns against trying to use the tool if Skyrim is in that location. Many of the modding tools and apps for Bethesda games do not work properly if that is where your game is installed because of windows security. If it isn't, try reinstalling FNIS through MO2 and without trying to run FNIS, check and see if the executable is there. If it is, tell the av to restore it and create an exception for the file so it doesn't happen again. Check your quarantine files to see if the executable is there. (I am assuming that in Windows>View you have File Name Extensions and Hidden Items selected, so all your files are visible). Since you say you can't find the FNIS executable (GenerateFNISforUsers.exe) in your MO2 "mods" folder, I suspect your antivirus or Windows Defender may have quarantined or deleted the executable. I've been having this issue with FNIS for around 30 mins and it's getting very frustrating. It's my first time using it and my friend who was helping me sadly went to bed. After some pressure from my friends (and many CTD while trying to play) I switched from Vortex to MO2. ![]()
